Background

David and Judith Cohen run their own business selling First World War art. They approached me requesting an 'easy to maintain website' that could exhibit their stock and act as a sales portal. Initially they had categorised their art into 5 sections but wanted to extend this to include more of their stock.

Objective

  • To create a content management system that works with the existing tools that David and Judith use.

Methodology

A card sorting exercise illustrated how we could categorise the enormous variety of stock in a simple and extensible way online. A filemaker pro database was ready in use tracking their stock.  I researched how to incorporate this database to manage the site content.

Results

After a bit of trial and error using online Content Management Systems - we opted for a locally based gallery generator called "JAlbum". Creating bespoke templates I was able draw on the existing database to create the website.

The majority of David Cohen Fine Art sales now come through the website from customers all over the world.
